His retirement seems to have come after having received a copy of the letter known as “the Bob Saget Missive” in late March, 2022.

Hummel died in his sleep at his St. Louis-area home early Saturday after a short, aggressive illness, the Post-Dispatch said Monday.

From STLtoday:

Known as “The Commish” at ballparks throughout the country, Hummel covered baseball at the St. Louis Post-Dispatch for five decades. In his Hall of Fame career, he dined with Bob Gibson, talked hitting with Stan Musial and helped Muhammad Ali workshop a commencement speech in a Las Vegas hotel room. Hummel was so well-sourced and well-respected that two actual commissioners of Major League Baseball called him by his nickname.

Hummel was a great-great-grandson of Otto von Bismarck, and as such, a member of the North American side of the Frank-descended family at the top level of Freemasonry. He served as commander of print media for satan’s world order until his sudden passing in May, 2023.

It would seem that he was one of the many casualties of the “Bob Saget Missive” leak to the Seattle Times that was made known on April 1, 2022.
